Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us - yes, establish the work of our hands. - Psalm 90:1,2,17 - NIV About the Music It Is Well With My Soul This is the first of two arrangements that I wrote in 2008 before attending Music in the Rockies with my family. It is Well With My Soul has always been one of my favorite hymns, and the roots of this arrangement go back to my high school days. Be Thou My Vision/Praise to the Lord the Almighty This is the second arrangement that I wrote for Music in the Rockies. I wanted to do something old and I wanted to do something Irish. Among hymns, it doesn't get much older than Be Thou My Vision, tracing its roots back to 8th century Ireland. Praise to the Lord the Almighty is a classic German reformed hymn, and you can read about both on the Hymn Stories page. Just As I Am This arrangement came about in rehearsal with our church praise band. I wanted to bring some new life to a great old hymn, and this blues/southern rock inspired arrangement is my way of saying that yes, old hymns can be cool. I haven't written down notes for this one, but a basic chord chart is attached. Oh Holy Night it’s my favorite Christmas song, and a piece that can be played so many different ways. It has been recorded many times over the years by many great musicians, and hopefully I have done it justice. What a Friend We Have in Jesus Although I haven't heard this one sung in church for quite a while, it has been a hymn standard for many years. I didn't try to do anything complex with it. It's just a great hymn. The written music was done on Finale Allegro, and I freely admit that I am not an expert in music notation. I realize that it’s not perfect, but it's hopefully good enough to be played by other pianists. I know that It Is Well With My Soul has been done as a recital piece by a piano student in my area (which was a great honor). I recorded the EP to provide my interpretation of these songs and for those who just enjoy these types of classic hymns. It's available on Apple Music, Spotify, and most other major digital music sites. I hope you enjoy it. The chord charts for Just As I Am and You Are God (Psalm 90) were created using Onsong and are available in both PDF and Onsong format. For you church musicians out there, you are free to use any of the written music. All I ask is that it be for your personal use or in your ministry and not for resale. You Are God (Psalm 90) This is a song that I wrote as part of an online worship study. There is more about this in the blog at bobbucymusic.wordpress.com, although the link to the original post at worshiptraining.com no longer works. This recording was sung in worship by the praise team at Salem Baptist Church in Apex, NC and accompanied by their band. It is song #6492126 in CCLI, but they won't post sheet music, chord chart, lyrics, etc. until enough churches have reported using the song. All are welcome to use this song in worship whether or not you have a CCLI license. But if you are a church with a CCLI license, then I would be grateful if you would include it in your CCLI reporting. |
